For the kids

Kids, Eat Your Veggies!
Any mother of young children can appreciate what a challenge it is getting kids to eat vegetables-especially in the winter! Soup is an excellent way to get your children to eat their veg! And because Pitango uses only the best fresh organic ingredients, you can assure they’re getting the maximum nutrients in every bite.

Great for Snacks and for the Lunchbox
Pitango soups are perfect for a quick & healthy after school snack. Just a couple minutes on the stovetop or in the microwave and they’ve satisfied their hunger without ruining dinner! And when you're ready to pack your child's lunch in the morning, simply reheat the remaining soup and transfer it to an insulated thermos.

Pitango hummus dips are perfect for school lunches too – just toss in some of their favourite bread or crackers. Hummus spreads nicely on sandwiches too. A quick and simple snack or lunchtime treat is to create a hummus rollup. Simply use steamed or raw veggie sticks, lettuce and layer on a tortilla or lavash, add a dollop of Pitango hummus and roll. It takes only minutes to prepare and it is such a tasty and healthy sandwich.

Get Cooking!
Encourage your child’s creativity and get them involved with the preparation of the meal. There are lots of ways to garnish the soup and it’s fun to try some of Pitango’s creamier soups as a sauce. Organic Green Pea & Mint is absolutely delicious over steamed cauliflower or pasta. Try it as a sauce in Mexican fajitas – muy bueno!

Grow a Pitango Garden!
Pique their interest in the food they eat. Let them plan and grow their own vegetable garden, or investigate the origin of different fruits and vegetables at the library or on the Internet. A garden can be as big or as small as time and space permits.
Pick & Eat Gardens – Nature’s snack food; look for varieties that can go from vine to mouth with just a quick wash.  Peas, pole beans, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, and rocket just to name a few.

Potted Herb Gardens - Kids can garnish their soups with the herbs they’ve selected and grown.  Adding fresh herbs like parsley, coriander, mint, thyme and rosemary not only add extra freshness and colour, but many of them also provide a tremendous amount of valuable nutrients and antioxidants. Herbs take up little space and are quick to grow.

Soup Garden – Kids can grow their own vegetable patch to make Pitango soup!   The ingredients in the Pitango soups can inspire the design and the empty pouches can serve as row markers for the pumpkin, tomatoes, leeks, carrots…the pouches are bright and can easily identify what’s growing. It’s a great way to recycle too.
